This lecture- and filmevening in Cinema Nova will be opened by animal lover Dr Lichic, who will give an alcoholic lecture in which he explains how to abandon your cumbersome canine companion with the use of Art, Method and Science. The lecture will be held in French.

Published in 2019 by Editions Grands Champs, Femmes animales by Laure Belhassen is a piquant opuscule, beautifully illustrated with old naturalist engravings, which lists 55 animal metaphors used to describe human females throughout the ages and continents. It has even been announced that an enlarged edition will be presented this evening... After showing a reel from the Scientia educational series, a fun montage produced to mark the release of this mischievous bestiary, Laure will read a few of its juicy passages.
FILM
Set against a noir-style Los Angeles background, two artists in rat and bear costumes become embroiled in a murder mystery that raises questions and observation on the nature of art and crime before spiraling into sublime flights of fancy.
“Der Geringste Widerstand (1980-1981), de eerste film van Fischli & Weiss, opent met een travelling shot van een stadslandschap dat als een kartonnen schaalmodel is opgebouwd. Vervolgens springt de film over naar het interieur van een flat in Los Angeles, waar we Rat en Beer ontmoeten, twee figuren in dierenkostuum. Het duo wil een informatieve en educatieve reis door de stad ondernemen, maar botst bij het bezoek aan een kunstgalerie op een lijk. Vervolgens transformeert de film van een toeristisch-educatieve trip in een psychedelisch detectiveverhaal.”
