Visite Film Festival
From 15 to 23 November, the Antwerp based collective De imagerie organizes their eleventh edition of Visite Film Festival at art space Het Bos. Visite is a multi-day festival with a focus on experimental, documentary and political cinema. De Imagerie invites makers to show their work alongside an inspirational film of their choice to enter into a dialogue with the public about what inspires them and what their working methods are. By doing so, they set out to introduce local and nearby makers who address worldly themes in their artistic work.
For it’s eleventh edition they have several film programs, a performance by Strangelove, a music concert organized by Girls go BOOM, a sonic piece, a party, and snacks by Otark in store for you.
The main attraction of the festival however is an exhibition by American video artist Peggy Ahwesh. In the 80’s she started her career making feminist punk and amateur super 8 films. An exhibition of her work will showcase how horror tropes seep in to our real and sometimes everyday lives without us always being aware of it. Ahwesh’ films are accompanied by works by artists, such as Anouk De Clercq, Harun Farocki, Cloë Delanghe, Alex Schuurbiers, who have inspired her over the years and by films and performances by local makers who touch on similar themes with their work.
The programme includes intimate conversations between girls, woman and children about caring, sexuality and gender norms.
You can find the programme here.
