Jocelyne Saab Retrospective in Paris
From 15 to 30 April 2025, Youna Rault and film club Contre-plongée are organising a retrospective on Jocelyne Saab in cooperation with l’Association Jocelyne Saab, which will take place at la Filmothèque du Quartier Latin and the cinema 3 Luxembourg in Paris.
In particular, the retrospective will focus on Saab's lesser-known work, highlighting her first independent reports on the 1975 war in Lebanon. The development of her cinematographic style through the Beirut trilogy will also be discussed in this three-week cycle, as well as her transition to fiction and the films she made towards the end of her life, when she was plagued by illness.
In 2021, Sabzian published an Issue concerning Jocelyne Saab, compiling articles and conversations with and about the filmmaker.
