New Interactive Guide to Every Motion Picture Film Format
Film Atlas is a new joint initiative by FIAF and the George Eastman Museum, made possible through the support of the Louis B. Mayer Foundation. This expansive online resource combines scholarly essays with high-resolution images to trace the history of film as a physical medium – from the beginnings of cinema to the present day.

Conference and Film Programme at CINEMATEK
From June 11 to 14, CINEMATEK, Université libre de Bruxelles, Women and Film History International (WFHI), and University of Antwerp host the conference Women and the Silent Screen XII: Form and Feeling in Silent Cinema. Over four days, panels will present new research and restorations, highlighting archival (re)discoveries of women’s roles in silent film. In tandem, CINEMATEK presents the Women in Silent Film programme, which continues throughout the summer.

From June 2 to June 6, 2025, Mexican filmmaker Carlos Reygadas and Bolivian editor, actress, and director Natalia López Gallardo will be hosted in Brussels by RITCS and Erasmushogeschool Brussel.

From April 3 to 30, Eye Filmmuseum is hosting The Lady with the Torch, a film program that celebrates the 100th anniversary of Columbia Pictures.

From 13–16 March, Caillou Film Festival, a new Brussels-based film festival, explores the strategies used in territorial struggles and the role of cinema in resistance.

Malian director and writer Souleymane Cissé passed away on 19 February in Bamako, Mali, at the age of 84.
Eye Filmmuseum celebrates the legacy of Feministisch Filmkollektief Cinemien (1974–1989), a pioneering film collective that sought to amplify the voices of female filmmakers in the Netherlands. Running from 6 to 25 March, the programme links the collective’s work to urgent contemporary themes, fostering intergenerational discussions on equality.
On 19 February, Quatre nuits d’un rêveur (1971) by Robert Bresson will be re-released in French theatres in a 4K restoration by Carlotta Films.

The Theatre of the Matters Hosts Retrospective in New York and Chicago
During the weekend of February 21–23, the itinerant film screening troupe The Theatre of the Matters will host Peasants of the Cinema: António Reis & Margarida Cordeiro, a programme dedicated to the cinema of António Reis and Margarida Cordeiro.
