Virgil Vernier in Antwerp

French director Virgil Vernier is coming to De Singel in Antwerp for two evenings in the context of CARTA, a new biennial festival looking to showcase video art, installations, new music, film concerts and more. Vernier will be presenting a series of new posters made for the festival. The posters can be seen in the festival exhibition, but there are more activities taking place around the filmmaker. On Friday 29 April, Vernier’s Sophia Antipolis (2018) is screened. Saturday evening will kick off with a short interview with Virgil Vernier by Robbrecht Desmet, followed by the screening of two short films by Vernier: Pandore (2010) and Sapphire Crystal (2019). The evening will conclude with a concert by composer and musician James Ferraro, who has composed music for some of Vernier’s films and is considered one of the pioneers of the vaporwave genre.

More info on the event and tickets can be found on the website of De Singel: for Friday here and for Saturday here.
