The Lady with the Torch
100 Years Columbia Pictures
From April 3 to 30, Eye Filmmuseum is hosting The Lady with the Torch, a film program that celebrates the 100th anniversary of Columbia Pictures. The series showcases the studio's rich history by featuring a selection of 17 films, including both renowned classics and lesser-known B-movies, many presented in newly restored 4K versions. Highlights of the program include Howard Hawks' screwball comedy Twentieth Century (1934), Orson Welles' film noir The Lady from Shanghai (1947) starring Rita Hayworth, and Robert Rossen’s All the King's Men (1949), which explores the rise of a populist politician. Additionally, the western Gunmen’s Walk (1958), noted as a favorite of director Quentin Tarantino, will be screened.
