Viva I Bambini
Film Programme on Italian Cinema & Children at CINEMATEK
Children occupy a central place in Italian cinema, reflecting family life, society, and the challenges of growing up. A new film programme at CINEMATEK explores these themes across four films, each introduced by Claudio Serafini (Istituto Italiano di Cultura Brussels) and Wouter Hessels (RITCS). The programme begins tonight (04/02) with Sciuscià [Shoeshine] (1946) by Vittorio De Sica, followed by Bellissima (Luchino Visconti, 1951), Luigi Comencini’s short La cité des enfants (1945) and feature Marcellino, pane e vino (1991), and concludes with Alice Rohrwacher’s contemporary coming-of-age film Corpo celeste (2011).
Free introductions precede all screenings.
