Michel Khleifi in Focus at Film Fest Gent
Film Fest Gent, in its 51st edition this year, will host a retrospective and director’s talk with Brussels-based Palestinian filmmaker Michel Khleifi. His films Al Dhakira al Khasba [Fertile Memory] (1980), the first feature shot in the Palestinian West Bank, and Urs al-jalil [Wedding in Galilee] (1987) will both be screened on October 10. Also on the 10th, following a screening of his short film Ma’loul tahtafilu bi damariha [Ma’loul Celebrates Its Destruction] (1985), Khleifi will reflect on his work and receive the Joseph Plateau Honorary Award in recognition of his films addressing the impact of Israel’s occupation of Palestine. All films will be screened a second time at KASKcinema on October 14th.
