Charles Dekeukeleire
Charles Dekeukeleire (1905-1971) was a Belgian film director. He is considered a pioneer of Belgian cinema, along with Henri Storck. Dekeukeleire is especially known for his experimental silent films, which include his debut film, Combat de boxe (1927), Impatience (1929), Histoire de détective (1930), and Flamme blanche (1930). He had a long career, spanning four decades and oscillating between making documentaries and commissioned works. His film Het kwade oog (1937) was Belgium’s first feature-length fiction film.
