Restored Film Festival Brussels
From 25 to 30 April 2026, the first edition of the Restored Film Festival Brussels will be organised by Cinema Palace, CINEMATEK, Cinema RITCS and the Istituto Italiano di Cultura. The programme brings together a selection of digitally restored films from international archives, celebrating both local and global film heritage. This inaugural edition centres on Italian cinema, with Marco Bellocchio as guest of honour. It opens with a restored screening of his debut I pugni in tasca (1965), followed by a public conversation with Luc Dardenne and a masterclass at RITCS.
The programme also features an Iranian film evening with Ehsan Khoshbakht, including screenings of Celluloid Underground (2023) and Bahram Beyzaie’s Safar [The Journey] (1972). A Belgian evening presents Chantal Akerman’s Golden Eighties (1986) alongside a restored film by André Delvaux, while work by Lebanese filmmaker Jocelyne Saab is also included. The festival closes with John Ford’s The Scarlet Drop (1918), accompanied by live music and an introduction by Guy Borlée.
