De verklaring die hierna volgt is gewijd aan de taalvorm van de audiovisuele massamedia – dat wil zeggen, het gebruik door de MAVM (Mass Audio-Visual Media) van een repetitieve, gestandaardiseerde structuur en een ingekorte tijd en ruimte, om zo de toeschouwer te controleren. Ik concentreer me op dit weinig bediscussieerde aspect van de media omdat het een essentiële rol heeft gespeeld in de ontwikkeling van de narratieve structuur die al van kracht is en wordt afgedwongen sinds de geboorte van cinema.

The following statement is concerned with the language form of the mass audiovisual media – i.e., the use by the MAVM of a repetitive, standardized structure, and abbreviated time and space, to control the audience. I am concentrating on this little debated aspect of the media, because it has played an essential role in developing the narrative structure which has been in place, and enforced, since the birth of the cinema.
