Charles Burnett
Charles Burnett (1944) is an American film director, producer and cinematographer. Burnett began making films in the 1970s while a graduate student at UCLA, California. In 1981, he was given the Fipresci Prize for his first feature, Killer of Sheep. In 1988, he received the prestigious MacArthur Foundation Fellowship and, in 2017, a Governor Award. His work includes films such as The Horse (1973), Killer of Sheep (1978), To Sleep with Anger (1990) and Nightjohn (1996).
