James Agee
James Agee (1909-1955) was an American novelist, journalist, poet, screenwriter, and film critic. In 1941, he published Let Us Now Praise Famous Men, a book accompanied by photographs by Walker Evans. He wrote the screenplays for The African Queen (John Huston, 1951) and The Night Of The Hunter (Charles Laughton, 1955). In the 1940s, he was one of the most influential American film critics. His autobiographical novel A Death in the Family (1957) was awarded a posthumous Pulitzer Prize in 1958.
