10. North-South Trilogy: Dagboek [1]

The upcoming birth of his child marks the starting point of Johan van der Keuken’s investigation into the society in which the child will later have to live. Filmed in the Netherlands, Morocco, and Cameroon, the film provides a history of the tools humanity has used over the centuries to control its natural environment, and how these tools contribute to social alienation and oppression in high-tech societies.

On the occasion of the retrospective, Sabzian published an Issue featuring Van der Keuken’s writings, available in English, Dutch and French. A collection of texts on his work by various authors will be published in the coming weeks.
