30. Het oog boven de put [1]

A documentary about the cycle of life and death in Kerala, India. The film explores how knowledge is passed down through generations: within families, through the village economy, and between teachers and students. A traveling loan officer visits villages where performing arts, martial arts, religion, and cinema form the cultural foundation. This is a practice of visual ethnography, where observing and being observed become intertwined.

On the occasion of the retrospective, Sabzian published an Issue featuring Van der Keuken’s writings, available in English, Dutch and French. A collection of texts on his work by various authors will be published in the coming weeks.
