28. Johan van der Keuken + The Unanswered Question

The French filmmaker Thierry Nouel created a cinematic portrait titled Johan van der Keuken. The film not only presents excerpts from Van der Keuken's work but also features the documentary maker reflecting on his motivations. Additionally, Nouel films him in Paris, the city where the foundation of his filmmaking practice was laid. The Unanswered Question is an abstract film inspired by the composition of the same name by American composer Charles Ives.

On the occasion of the retrospective, Sabzian published an Issue featuring Van der Keuken’s writings, available in English, Dutch and French. A collection of texts on his work by various authors will be published in the coming weeks.
